EventDubai Event Hit by Injuries![]() The men’s Dubai Tennis Championships will start next week without five of the top seven players who were scheduled to compete, mostly because of injuries. Top-ranked Rafael Nadal (knee) and No. 2 Roger Federer (back) withdrew early last week. Since then, the defending champion Andy Roddick, No. 5 Nikolay Davydenko (undisclosed injury) and No. 9 Fernando Verdasco (ankle) have pulled out. That leaves No. 3 Novak Djokovic and No. 4 Andy Murray as the top two seeds in the draw announced for the $2 million tournament. Roddick said Friday that he would not attend because he did not agree with a decision by the United Arab Emirates to deny a visa to the Israeli Shahar Peer to play in the women’s tournament.
